The site was launched in April 2007 under the name of AustralianThemeParkNews.com. However, in January 2008, the site was redeveloped to include overseas news, under the new name of ThemeParknewsDirect.com.

ThemeParkNewsDirect.com has grown to become one of Australia's largest theme park news site.
