Disney receives approval for Shanghai theme park

The Walt Disney Company recently announced that they have received approval to build a park in the Pudong district of Shanghai.

The initial phase of this development will include a Magic Kingdom-style park as well as other amenities similar to those found at other Disney destination resorts.

"China is one of the most dynamic, exciting and important countries in the world, and this approval marks a very significant milestone for The Walt Disney Company in mainland China", said Robert A. Iger, President and CEO of The Walt Disney Company.

With the approvals in hand, Disney can now begin work on the preliminary development work, including the assigning of construction and operation.
