Alton Towers announces Th13teen

Alton Towers has announced that their much-hyped SW6 (secret weapon 6) project will be called Th13teen.
Th13teen is to be themed around an unearthed ancient burial site, situated in the woodland area of Alton Towers known as the Dark Forest.
The coaster, which was manufactured by Intamin, will include a never-before-seen element, although Alton Towers has not stated what this will be.
However, if rumours are accurate, the coaster will include a section of track that drops to provide an experience similar to freefalling.
"This ground-breaking technology is something never seen before and will open up a whole new concept for theme park rides", roller coaster expert John Wardley said.
"By combining physical and psychological terror, Th13teen will be the first ride to play on emotional fear and something coaster fans will not be prepared for", he added.
Marketing has played a huge part in the ride's pre-opening hype. From military-style trucks to body guards in charge of the ride's security, Alton Towers has gone to extremes to get the public's attention.
In the latest press release, Alton Towers stated that Th13teen might have to have age restrictions implemented due to the terrifying nature of the ride. This would restrict guests under the age of 16 and over 55 from riding.
Th13teen is currently under construction and is due to open in March 2010.
