Darien Lake to expand SplashTown

Darien Lake has announced that it will expand its water park, SplashTown, as well as detach it from the main park.
The two areas on the Darien Lake property will split up to form separate parks: the Darien Lake Theme Park and SplashTown Water Park.
The expansion of SplashTown will include a new quad-slide complex, lazy river, wave pool and an additional 20,234 square metres of park space.
The quad-slide complex will be known as Swirl City, which combines four high-speed slides: Mister Twister, Cannon Ball Run and Turbo Twins.
Additional park facilities such as a new bathhouse, food and beverage outlets, decks and lounging spaces, cabanas and landscaping will also be added.
"By transforming Darien Lake into two major parks, our guests will have a world-class theme park and world-class water park to enjoy during their stay at Darien Lake Resort", Resort General Manager Christopher Thorpe said.
The Darien Lake Theme Park and SplashTown Water Park are due to open on 8 May this year.
