Schlitterbahn announces water park complex

Schlitterbahn has announced plans to build a year-round water park complex along with a hotel and conference centre in Cedar Park, Texas.

"We are pleased to have the opportunity to develop our new upscale water park retreat concept right here in Cedar Park", principal for the Schlitterbahn Development Group Jeff Henry said.

Schlitterbahn Cedar Park will feature the award-winning interconnected river technology that is also present at the group's other parks.

Dubbed the "Transportainment" system by Schlitterbahn, it will allow guests to wait for a ride while remaining in their tubes instead of having to stand in a queue.

Schlitterbahn has pledged to install environmentally friendly technologies such as compact fluorescent and LED lights, low-flow fixtures and advanced water filtration systems.

The first phase is expected to be operational by summer 2012.
